Located in the southeast portion of the state, Carlsbad’s four moderate seasons encourage year-round outdoor activities.  Brilliant sunshine lavishes the city 350 days a year. Summertime highs are tempered by low humidity and winter snow is an unusual and brief affair.

Carlsbad is home to two regulation 18-hole golf courses as well as a stimulating nine-hole, par-three executive course.  Both courses stretch more than 6,000 yards and are set amid the stunning desert landscape.

Lake Carlsbad tennis complex has nine tennis courts and three handball/racquetball courts, all lighted for night play.  For exercise and relaxation, the Riverwalk offers 4.5 miles of paved paths.  Numerous playgrounds along the Riverwalk can occupy young visitors, and everyone will welcome the strategically placed benches.

With 28 family parks covering more than 365 acres, Carlsbad is the proud home of an abundance of recreational facilities for baseball, softball, soccer and basketball. Carlsbad also boasts a world class Radio Control Airport for the enjoyment of RC flyers. Bicyclists are also at home in Carlsbad as there are many routes to explore.
